One way to go MOD is the way you dress. Colors, colors, colors. One thing about sixties fashion, colors! Some really retro colors are orange, pink, lime green, yellow, and bright blue. You could buy designer brands that look sixties-ish. But it's not truly authentic. Go through your mom's closet and pick out the cutest mini skirts. If there's no luck ther, try a friend's parent, your aunt, or (dare I say it??) go to a thrift store.
Maybe you're like me. Maybe you don't like to wear mini skirts and dresses. Don't fret! Another mod look in the sixties were pant suits. Pant suits would come with a matching coat. Get some groovy shoes to go with them, and a cute hat to match.
In the Sixties, many rings were a popular accessory. Girls would wear as many as three rings on each finger! THe rings would come in many bright colors like pink, blue, green, yellow, and orange. Rings were also popular with boys. Just look at Ringo Starr from The Beatles! He wore four rings on each hand, hence the nickname Ringo! So go buy some colorful rings. NOTE: If you have to do PE at school, take them off if you are playing volly ball!
Another popular fashion to the MOD people were to match your stockings with your dress. Just look at Twiggy! Lime green tights with a lime green dress. You can still find brightly colored stockings today, but they are expensive. Where I live, they are at least $10 a pair! You can also get ones with flowers, plaid, checked, swirls, and any other design you can think of! I've actually seen orange stockings with purposely made rips in them. They even have animal print for you jungle swingers. |
