Go Mod

Are you like me?? A total fanatic of the Swingin Sixties and not even born until over 20 years after?? No use crying over spilled milk, right?? Look on the bright side; at least we're all between 13 and 19 instead of between 40 and 50! Be proud of your good taste! Go mod anyway; scroll down......

Mod, mod, mod, mod, mod!

One way to go MOD is the way you dress. Colors, colors, colors. One thing about sixties fashion, colors! Some really retro colors are orange, pink, lime green, yellow, and bright blue. You could buy designer brands that look sixties-ish. But it's not truly authentic. Go through your mom's closet and pick out the cutest mini skirts. If there's no luck ther, try a friend's parent, your aunt, or (dare I say it??) go to a thrift store.

Maybe you're like me. Maybe you don't like to wear mini skirts and dresses. Don't fret! Another mod look in the sixties were pant suits. Pant suits would come with a matching coat. Get some groovy shoes to go with them, and a cute hat to match.

Up close to some MOD rings

In the Sixties, many rings were a popular accessory. Girls would wear as many as three rings on each finger! THe rings would come in many bright colors like pink, blue, green, yellow, and orange. Rings were also popular with boys. Just look at Ringo Starr from The Beatles! He wore four rings on each hand, hence the nickname Ringo! So go buy some colorful rings. NOTE: If you have to do PE at school, take them off if you are playing volly ball!

Two MOD pairs of Twiggy stockings

Another popular fashion to the MOD people were to match your stockings with your dress. Just look at Twiggy! Lime green tights with a lime green dress. You can still find brightly colored stockings today, but they are expensive. Where I live, they are at least $10 a pair! You can also get ones with flowers, plaid, checked, swirls, and any other design you can think of! I've actually seen orange stockings with purposely made rips in them. They even have animal print for you jungle swingers.

Mod Hair and Makeup!

These are two very cute hair styles and it just so happens they are from 1964! These two styles are very much alike. One is for those of you with straight hair, the other is for those of you with curly hair. And if you like neither of these, you could do your hair like.... TWIGGY!

There was a big makeup revolution during the Sixties. As a rule of thumb, girls would wear heavy eyeliner, dark eye shadow, thick mascara, and as a contrast, pale, skin toned lips. Now if you are getting ready for something big, you could wear the Twiggy look. But just for school, I suggest just a lot of eyeliner, blue eye shadow and light pink lips.
